Launch Event in Belgium from Blenders
On October 16, 2023, the launch event for the turnUp academy took place, marking a significant local initiative in Turnhout under the umbrella of the Buddy Migrants project. The event was attended by around 50 people from the education sector, local government, business world, and social sector. Together, we took our first local steps, surrounded by expertise, commitment, and motivation.
In addition to an interactive story of change that we co-authored with all participants, our panel discussion featured Raïssa Peeters (education policy officer at LEVL), Juan Monte (director of the socio-artistic workshop De Ruimte), and Iris Loots (education and upbringing expert).
Meanwhile, we are steadily making small strides forward, building a website, and forging valuable connections. The collective wisdom surrounding this initiative continues through a quarterly steering group.
